World renowned architect Daniel Libeskind has announced that on September 29, he will unveil the prototype for his highly anticipated Libeskind Villa. The Libeskind Villa is a German-made, sculptural living space which marries the highest standards in design, craftsmanship and sustainability. The project has been realized in partnership with Berlin based proportion GmbH and the prototype has been built on the premises of Rheinzink GmbH & Co., the developer of the Villa’s zinc façade. Imperial War Museum North (IWMN) has selected Topotek 1 as the design team to develope the external areas of the museum in Trafford. This decision was based because after reviewing the scheme proposed by Topotek 1 which complements the Libeskind’s building.

NEW YORK – Studio Daniel Libeskind has been named winner of the master plan competition for the Yongsan International Business District of Seoul, South Korea. The new large-scale district features a cluster of residential, office and retail neighborhoods in an extensive urban park along the Han River.
The plan, called Archipelago 21 because each of the linked neighborhoods functions like “islands” within a sea of green park space, will contain a total of 34 million square feet of built area. The $20 billion development is slated to break ground in 2011. The development entity is Yongsan Development Co., Ltd, a South Korean conglomerate. The district will also contain new cultural institutions, educational facilities and rapid transportation systems.

Plans for a brand new Daniel Libeskind designed high-rise project in downtown Los Angeles have recently been approved by the Los Angeles Planning Commission. The move – coupled with a second major high-rise in the area by AC Martin Partners – could signal a new optimism for developers with major city projects to push their plans through despite the downturn.
The 43-story Libeskind Tower, situated at 1340 South Figueroa Street, is a 273-unit building to include parking, restaurants and a spa. CA Human Technologies, a joint venture of two Korean firms, is developing the tower.
