Big wins the competition to design a major cultural center in Albania

BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), Martha Schwartz Landscape, Buro Happold , Speirs & Major, Lutzenberger & Lutzenberger, and Global Cultural Asset Management are today announced as the winning team of the international design competition for a new 27.000 m2 cultural complex in Albania, consisting of a Mosque, an Islamic Centre, and a Museum of Religious Harmony.

The capital Tirana is undergoing an urban transformation which includes the restoration and refurbishment of existing buildings, the construction of a series of new public and private urban structures, and the complete reconceptualization of Scanderbeg Square. This important square is the site of the new cultural complex that will consist of a Mosque, an Islamic Centre, and a Museum of Religious Harmony.

Serero Architects Designs Meudon New Cultural Center

Serero Architects won the competition for the new Cultural Center of Meudon-la-Forêt, their design is a building which is wrapped by an organic concrete shell, the project will be presented at the mediatheque of Meudon from June 22nd till July 10th, 2010. Kulturcenter Mariehøj - WE Architecture + Sophus Søbye Architects

Young practices WE ARCHITECTURE and Sophus Søbye Architects have been awarded with the first prize in the invited competition Kulturcenter Mariehøj, a new cultural center in Denmark´s Rudersdahl municipality. The future Mariehøj cultural center seeks to create open spaces for various activities where interactivity and connections between people have room to grow creatively. Other project collaborators are MASU Planning, Øllgaard Consulting Engineer, Spangenberg & Madsen Consulting Engineer, Hausenberg. More info after the break.
