The AA Visiting School is organized by the Architectural Association School of Architecture. The AA Visiting School travells to diferent contries around the world and conduct events and workshops in different cities incluiding Singapore, Sao Paulo, Santiago, Madrid, Beijing. In January 2011 the AA Visiting School will visit the Universidad Iberoamericana at Mexico. More info about the program, applications and accomodation after the break.

The Architectural Association School is showcasing the work of eight award-winning architectural projects which demonstrate the most innovative integration of design and fabrication processes through digitally driven design systems in a new exhibition Designing Fabrication at Village Underground Art Space from September 21 – 26 as part of London Design Festival. The show will be open daily from 12-8 pm. A symposium exploring themes and issues raised by the awards and exhibition is taking place on Friday, September 25 from 2 – 6 pm. Located in Tel Aviv, the CSI Visiting School combines cutting-edge and traditional techniques of draughtsmanship to produce a series of sophisticated architectural surfaces whose multiple scales and ‘thick 2D’ qualities will form an elaborate set of ‘land marks’ to commemorate the city’s centennial in 2009.

The ten-day programme will work with a wide range of media: architectural drawings, cartographic maps, hydrographic blueprints and digital photography will be synthesised to form intricate 2D and 3D forms experimenting with the parameters and meaning of drawing. Pioneers of art and architectural representation will be our guides, bringing London to Israel’s cultural capital in the form of Joseph Gandy, Robert Adam, James Stirling, David Hockney, John Outram and Michael Webb.

Participants will work individually or in small groups in a studio environment, directed by AA teaching staff and invited specialists. Project-based work will be informed by a series of lectures and presentations by designers, architects, digital fabricators and other experts. Students will learn to use a wide-range of software to generate intricate and complex designs that can create new interconnections and spatial organisations. 3D drawings will then be made of these designs, using computer-controlled fabrication processes.
